Our Wonderful Recipe Book Launch

Thank you to all the families and friends who contributed recipes for our Kindergarten Recipe Book. We are very happy with the end result and must thank Tracey for collating the recipes and art work. You are a star Tracey. We sold 100 books in the first week and are expecting the next delivery this week. Please continue to support us with this fundraiser. The book contains a good variety of recipes and would make a great gift.
On Tuesday 15 May we had an official 'Recipe book' launch. Kylee organised a fantastic evening which included cooking demonstrations by Kylee, Fiona and Linda. We got to sample Linda's Creamy Spinach Dip Cobb Loaf, Kylee's Moroccan Chicken Pasta Salad and Fiona's Ice Cream Cake with Butterscotch Sauce...all absolutely delicious. A huge thanks to the people who provided nibbles, treats and desserts for us to taste as well.

Here are a few photos from the evening and some photos of the children making a recipe out of the book.

Watch out for the Gruffalo

The Gruffalo, written by Julia Donaldson has been very popular with the children. Several of them have decided that he lives in the gully beside the kindergarten and comes out at night. They have created the most amazing games and dramatic play around the Gruffalo, making maps, painting pictures of him, making some Gruffalo prickles for their backs and making Gruffalo caves. They are full of exciting and imaginative ideas. Julia Donaldson has also written The Gruffalo's child which is another story that the children particularly like. Her writing is very clever, encouraging the children to think about possible outcomes for the characters.

Nau mai Haere mai, Welcome to Te Kowhai Kindergarten's blog.

We have created this blog as a means of sharing with our parents/whanau the everyday learning experiences that take place in our kindergarten environment. Families are invited to join us in celebrating their children's journey as they learn about their world through play, discovery and exploration. It is also exciting to think that today's technology enables our relatives in New Zealand and throughout the world to view the blog, making it a wonderful way for them to feel involved and included.
As well as being kept up to date with the children's' progress you will be able to access our newsletters, links to our local schools and educational articles of interest.  Your feedback is always valued and we look forward to receiving your thoughts, ideas and comments.
